BOXO USA Tools of Irvine, CA, has announced its new sponsorship of the offshore race team Dirty Money for 2025. Piloted by throttleman Bill Pyburn and driver Brit Lilly, Dirty Money is the reigning World Champion in the hyper-competitive Super Cat class, coming off of a dominant 2024 season. The duo will also compete in their PRO Class 1 competitor, 45-foot Victory XINSURANCE South for the upcoming 2025 season, with BoxoUSA on board as well.
BoxoUSA's Trent Burbidge told Speedboat that the company's support of the Dirty Money team was a no-brainer after they captured the 2024 World Championship. "That was incredible," he says. "We also admire Dirty Money's great social media presence. When we approached their crew chief, Bobby Adams, everybody was super excited, and they welcomed us with open arms. You could plainly see it wasn't all 'business first' with them—this was about passion, and I think that's what really kind of set the right foundation for moving forward. Everything just kind of fell into place, and there's a lot of excitement on both sides."
Adams concurs, adding that the partnership came together fairly quickly. "After watching all of the races last season, they reached out to me and Dirty Money owner Beau Renfroe," he says. Principle players from both sides eventually gathered on a conference call to discuss their goals, including co-branding. "We came up with a plan to get Boxo on both boats," Adams says. "As part of the sponsorship, we'll be using their tools, and our video shoots will have their tools in view. We're going to market them together. Their elaborate kits include tools all the way down to the prop socket."
Offering a range of premium tool solutions for every industry, BoxoUSA markets everything from rolling and hand-carry tool boxes, tool rolls and bags, namely their "boat roll," specifically for boats, and organized storage modules. While its roots are in the automotive industry, the company discovered that there was an significant market for its products among the performance boating segment. To that end, Burbidge credits his longtime friend and longtime DCB customer Jeff Clark, for his assistance in realizing Boxo's true potential.
"My company, J-Squared General Contractors, was a neighbor of Boxo," Clark says. "After talking to Trent a few years ago, I realized that we had the whole Lake Havasu thing in common. At the time, a big part of Boxo's focus was on sand cars in the desert, and Trent was trying to get Boxo's ownership group to understand that the same guys who own sand cars also own boats. Three years ago, we were finally able to encourage Boxo to put up a small tent at the Desert Storm Street Party. They brought around $50,000 in tools, and they were sold out in 25 minutes! And it's continued to grow from there."
Offshore racing for the Dirty Money teams kicks off May 16-17 in Cocoa Beach, FL, and promises to be another blockbuster season for.
"We're excited," Pyburn told Speedboat. "The Super Cat boat is ready to go, except for dropping the motors in. It's been totally stripped and re-rigged. Everything in it is brand new. We tested the PRO Class 1 boat before the Miami Boat Show, then stripped the whole boat and re-did the bottom. The crew is putting the boat back together now. We're planning to begin retesting the week of April 14. It's crazy fast." As for BoxoUSA, Pyburn says he's psyched about the new partnership. "They're going to be a great sponsor for us, and it looks like we'll have a long-term relationship with them."
With BoxoUSA’s support and Dirty Money’s track record of success, the 2025 season is shaping up to be another thrilling year for the offshore racing world.
