The Key West, Florida-based organization Race World Offshore has announced their newest race event: The inaugural 7 Mile Offshore Grand Prix. The dates have been set for April 28-30, 2023, and will be based out of Marathon, FL. It has been sanctioned an APBA National Series Race and will be the kickoff to the offshore racing schedule.

“I have been talking about this for a couple years and I’m really looking forward to having a race here,” said Larry Bleil, President of RWO. “It’s time we kick the season off a little sooner, with an APBA National Event and the weather here during April is perfect.”

The race course will be set to navigate out of Marathon, FL and parallel to the iconic and newly-renovated 7 Mile Bridge, which runs through the Florida Keys. Teams will also run close to shore through the Gulf of Mexico–giving race fans a great view as the boats roar by. Another cool addition are that the VIP tents that will actually be on the bridge, overlooking the course, as RWO has been granted permission for the race day events.

Race World Offshore says that further details for this unique event will be coming soon. Their other events for 2022 include the 13th Annual Hooters Clearwater Offshore Nationals (September 23-25)  and the RWO World Championships in Key West (November 6-13).
