Mystic Powerboats owner John Cosker has just completed an owners’ run that comprised a fleet of 15 boats gathering at the Westin Cape Coral Resort, right outside of Fort Myers, FL. The weekend jaunt included a spate of demo rides on Friday that featured each of Mystic’s three models: the M3800 and M4200 center consoles, and the C4000 catamaran, all powered by outboard engines from Mercury Racing.
On Saturday, Cosker led the group on a fun run to Fisherman’s Village in Punta Gorda, FL, a charming waterfront resort 30 miles to the north with restaurants, boutiques and an expansive marina. Sunday brought a smaller-scale run, with half a dozen boats, to the Pink Shell Beach Resort in Fort Myers. Cosker drove his personal boat, an M4200 center console; also among the stable was a brand-new C3800 powered by quad Mercury Racing 450R outboards that Mystic had just delivered to a customer.
In attendance were Glen and Cathy Mayer (owners of Fort Myers’ Sweetwater Landing Marina) in their C3800 outboard cat. “They’ve owned it since February and use it all the time,” Cosker told Speedboat. “I think they’ve put almost 200 hours on it already.” Also on hand was Darryl Cuttell of New Smyrna Beach with his black-and-green M4200 called Darana Hybrid; additionally, Cosker hosted two couples who have Mystics currently under construction.
“Actually, we got to meet some customers we had never met before who bought their boats used. We know all of the new owners who have built their boats with us, but it was nice to meet some of the owners who have bought their Mystics in the used market.”
Cosker was upbeat about how the weekend came off. “It was fantastic,” he said. “We had about 65 people for lunch. This was kind of our prototype to do more of these events in the future, and I think we’ll set a day to do another one in Cape Coral around the same time next year.”
As for other upcoming events in 2021, Cosker said Mystic might plan a run on Florida’s East Coast sometime in the spring, and then make a strong showing at poker runs nationwide in the summer. That would include an expansion of activities at the LOTO Shootout, where Cosker is also looking forward to earning his seventh consecutive Top Gun award competing in Don Onken‘s American Ethanol Mystic.
“I wish I got to run it more than once a year,” Cosker chuckled
