Mercury Racing has awarded its third annual scholarships to two local high-school students. Ryan Beck of New Holstein, WI, and Caleb Cochran of Eden, WI, each received $5,000 to help pay for their continuing education.

The goal of the scholarship is to alleviate financial stress of post-secondary education and support the continued growth of local skilled tradespeople. Companies like Mercury Racing rely on skilled individuals with a strong work ethic and passion to build and service niche products. The scholarship will help grow the local workforce by providing the education and tools needed to succeed.

“This is the third year we have provided this scholarship, and this year we are proud to award this money to two very deserving individuals who clearly have a passion for pursuing a technical trade,” Stuart Halley, general manager of Mercury Racing, said in a statement. “Mercury Racing depends on skilled tradespeople to have a prosperous future. It is our mission to continue to grow this program so that more students like Ryan and Caleb have the financial support they need to be successful.”

Beck will attend Lakeshore Technical College’s Weld Fabrication Technology program in the fall. Cochrane will go to Moraine Park Technical College and will pursue a degree in Mechanical Design Technology.
