A dozen Super Stock boats comprised the exciting eight-lap Race #3 on this second day of the Race World Offshore World Championships in Key West.
LPC Racing, with throttleman Mike Wright and driver Loren Peters, led the pack for most of the race and took the checkered flag. (The team had finished third on Wednesday.) Myrick Coil and Rusty Williams, who had finished in the first-place position on Wednesday, finished second in Performance Boat Center / FASS Fuel Systems. In third place was the smallest boat in the field, CoCo’s Monkey, a 28′ Wicked Powerboats hull featuring Mike Bethan and Todd Defilipps.
Rounding out the field were Jackhammer, Play Tradez, FJ Propeller, Phase 5, CR Racing, Curry Refrigeration and Your Storage Units. Shaun Torrente and Eric Belisle, who had flipped in their Super Stock competitor CMR Roofing on Wednesday, had worked double time to get the boat ready for Friday’s race, but did not finish. Team Allen Lawn Care was also seen with its engine hatch open and also did not finish the race.
