Interceptor Custom Boats of Bloomington, CA, builder of go-fast catamarans and vee bottoms, is adding a location in Lake Havasu, AZ, in the wake of surging sales.

Kathy Safaverdi, general manager of the California location, told Speedboat, “I sold about 12 boats in the past two months, and this company has never sold more than two or three in a year.” She said company owner Ross Kelley Thueson wants to get more exposure in Havasu, so he is opening a branch there. Andrew Price will act as general manager of the new location.

Interceptor’s 26 Kool Kat (seen above) was reviewed in the January 2021 issue of Speedboat; the sleek and roomy deckboat was powered by a Mercury Racing 600 SCi with Mercury XR drive.

Safaverdi said that Interceptor currently has a 26 Kool Kat just out of the mold, with a 250SX currently going into the mold and another 26 being prepped for mold this weekend. Both of the 26-footers will be powered by a single 600 SCi, while the 250SX will have a single Mercury Racing 300R outboard. Meanwhile, Interceptor plans to display a twin-engine 26 Kool Kat at the Lake Havasu Boat Show.

Safaverdi said at least part of the reason for Interceptor’s recent sales successes could be attributed to strong word of mouth. “Our existing customers bring in their friends and family members. They’re just happy with our products and our customer service.” The California location recently greeted John Cassady as service manager; the company’s Havasu location is expected to have some production capabilities in the future.
