The third leg of the UIM XCAT World Championship 2023 kicked off this weekend in Constanta, Romania. It’s the first time the world's premier powerboat competition has come to Constanta Lake, one of the top locations of Romania.
Practice sessions were held on Friday afternoon—a first test to check the competitiveness of the racing catamarans. Of the total nine teams participating, Fazza's Emirati team was confirmed as the fastest boat, with a time of just under 2 minutes and 30 seconds. In second place was 222 Offshore, with third place going to the Italian team HPI.
Race 1 got into full swing on Saturday, for a 16-lap race that once again saw Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir Bin Hendi dominating in their #3 Fazza boat, with a total time of 41 minutes 36 seconnds, and an average speed of 96.33 mph.
In second place was #96 HPI Racing Team, featuring Rosario Schiano Di Cola and Guiseppe Schiano Di Cola. Their total time was 42 minutes 6 seconds, with an average speed of 95.09 mph.
Third place went to Scott Williams and Martin Campbell in #8 Team GB. Total time was 42 minutes 30 seconds, with an average speed of 94.47 mph.
