The Avi Resort and Casino in Laughlin, NV—a popular destination for speedboats along the Colorado River—has temporarily suspended operations of the casino and hotel. As a result of the suspension, the July 4 fireworks show has also been canceled.
In a release issued today, the resort said the move was made in an “abundance of caution to protect the safety and health of our community and our Avi family.” The decision was made after a planned Covid-19 retesting of more than 400 team members, with a few showing positive results. “In keeping with our core values of ensuring the safety and health of our team members and guests, we believe a few is too many today,” the release stated. “Additionally, the significant rise in Covid cases in the local area is of utmost concern.”
During the suspension, the resort’s property will be thoroughly evaluated and cleaned, and officials will be re-examining every aspect of the operation.
