Lincolnton, GA-based Adrenaline Powerboats—builder of the 45′ Speede and ZRX-47 luxury vee-bottoms—has gotten “very far down the tooling pipeline” in creating its new center console model, company owner Mike Layton told Speedboat.
“We’re really close to building the hull,” Layton said of the as-yet-unnamed 47′ boat. “We have a bunch of molds that are getting polished up, and we’re about to start spraying some color-match gelcoat in the color that the customer wants.” (The customer is Chuck Stark of South Carolina; Layton says two other 47s have already been sold.)
The twin step-bottom center-console will feature a 12-foot beam and will feature up to five outboard engines. The first out of the mold will sport quad Mercury Racing 450Rs; at least one of the subsequent hulls will be powered with quintuplet 450Rs. The 47′ will offer a berth area with a queen-size bed, kitchen and head under the center console, along with “tons of cool-factor Adrenaline designs,” Layton says.
All of the creativity has been plugged into the design, he adds. Now Layton is just waiting for that “ah, ha!” moment of inspiration before the perfect name for the model is developed. “Once we cut the last mold—which we’re pretty close to doing—we’ll start worrying about what the cool model name is going to be.”
Adrenaline hopes to have the first boat ready to show off at November’s Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. “We feel that’s realistic,” Layton says, “given the current state of affairs in the world.”
All of Adrenaline’s models are carbon boats with CNC-cut tooling, designed in CAD at the factory and boast magnificent detail work and supercar-style design, fit and finish, etc. Layton said the new boats will follow the same construction plan as the ZRX-47 and 45 Speede.
