Race World Offshore’s Offshore World Championship races in Key West kicked off Wednesday morning with several bracket classes running together. It was a banner day for Team Woody, which has been running three separate bracket-class boats this season (in classes 2, 3 and 5). This morning, the Woody teams finished first in both Class 3 and 5.
In Class 3, #327 Team Woody (with driver Billy Shipley and throttleman Chad Woody) took the unofficial win, followed by #350 Rolling Dirty Offshore. Meanwhile, in Bracket Class 5, the #527 Team Woody (with Micheal Stancombe and JJ Turk) led from start to finish, followed by #549 Papamigos.
In Bracket Class 4, #467 GNS Motorsports took the unofficial win after overtaking #404 Simmons Marine, which experienced mechanical issues and did not finish.
In Bracket Class 6, #688 Offshore Outlaw/Southern Arbor Services had a banner day, leading from start to finish, with #696 Gerard Marine finishing in second.
In Bracket Class 7, it was #744 Jackhammer (with Brian Guy and Julian Maldonado) taking the unofficial win after it, too, led the race from beginning to end.
Cigarette Justice League ran unopposed in Bracket Class 1, and had the distinction of being the fastest boat on the water this morning.
